Amur Tiger - Threatened

There are about 500 Amur Tigers left in the wild. It can only be found in the Sikhote-Alin range in the Primorski and Khabarovsk provinces of the Russian Far East, small pockets around the border of China, and possibly in North Korea. This is due to reduced prey densities.
The largest threat to the species is the illegal wildlife trade. They are also threatened by loss of habitat, primarily through Russia's logging industry.
More endangered animal paintings to come soon.

Steppe Orchid

Nearing Extinction

Steppe Orchids grow only in the western United States. Today this flower has approximately 172 plants in existence. The main reason for its extinction is global warming, which has a detrimental effect on their wetland culture. Frequent fires occurring in the growing area of an orchid, as well as eating and trampling it by livestock, also contribute to the gradual disappearance of this plant species.
